It's Maya Time

We didn't actually get to see Mt. McKinley (Denali) that day. There were too many clouds in the sky for us to see her, but that's okay. Just another excuse to go back.

It's been nearly 18 months since Maya's been born. Each and every day she shows me how smart she is. This is the time where she notices something new everyday. Usually it's a few "somethings". She has a fascination with dogs and cats, but to her they are all dogs. Or as Maya says "dahh. . .dah!" She also knows where her eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and bellybutton are.

When she has a dirty diaper she lets me know. She pulls on her pants and if the diapers are out she will grab one and bring it to me so I decided it's time to try her out on potty training. She hasn't used her potty chair yet, but it is in the bathroom, and I have been bringing her in there with me. I know it's still pretty early to expect her to know exactly what to do, but she is showing a genuine interest so I figured "why not try?"

Maya loves going to the park (what kid doesn't) and she sees the older kids climbing the slides, so of course she has to do it as well. She's pretty good at it too.

Oh, another thing Maya has been doing for a little over a month now is giving kisses. She will walk around the living room playing with toys and then all of a sudden will walk up to me or Adam and lean in and give kisses. Then she will go back to playing, look up again and come give more kisses. She really is a sweetheart. Speaking of sweet, she always wants to share (unless it's something she knows she isn't supposed to have but managed to get her hands on). And loves to feed us.

Next topic: dancing. Maya *loves* to dance. And if you are not dancing she will come and grab your hand and pull you to the middle of the living room. You better dance with her. She has pretty great taste in music too.

Before I became a mother I never knew just how smart babies and toddlers are, or how fast they learn.
